Yo Kai Watch Pop-up Party Invitations
This is the third 'ible building up to Kaiden's Yo-Kai watch party. This one addresses the invitations.
In the show, Nate finds this old, dusty capsule machine in the woods and he puts in money. When he opens the capsule he gets, he is surprised to find Whisper, his first yo kai. I thought this would be a great element to incorporate into the invites.
This is the invitation I came up with. I think I may have gone a bit overboard but I think the kids will love it. It is a fun invitation. It has moving parts and pop-ups. Much better than a boring ol' static invite.
We need several pieces for this invitation
-the capsule machine
-the mechanics for the machine
-the pop-up character/logo
-the capsule ball outside
-the capsule ball inside
The photos I have here for the pop-up characters have the personalized logo for my son and the inside capsule has his party information. I have also attached the photoshop files for these so you can edit them to personalize them for your kiddo. If you don't have photoshop or don't know how to edit the files, I have these available in my Etsy shop. https://www.etsy.com/listing/269994818/personalize...
Capsule
Cut out the inside and outside capsules.
Use a glue stick to glue the inside pattern to the back of the outside pattern.
Fold in half and unfold to get a crease in the center.
Pop Up
Cut out the pop up character pieces. You will need one for each invitation you want to make.
Fold the character piece in half at the point as seen in the photos.
Attach
Line up the Character piece center fold with the center fold of the capsule, about centered vertically.
Tape down both sides of the character piece.
Fold the capsule and check to make sure the pop up is hidden. Open and close to test the pop up. If the pop up sticks out, try moving it up a little and tape it down again.
Pull Out
Cut out the capsule machine and the mechanics.
Use an exacto knife to cut a slit in the black rectangle on the machine that is a little higher than the bottom of the rectangle and extends from end to end of the rectangle long ways. It has to be wide enough for the capsule to fit through.
Turn the machine over and lay down the "T" piece with the top aligned at the top of the machine.
Lay the capsule on the machine so the bottom of the capsule is aligned with the bottom of the machine.
Lay the small rectangle across the T just above the capsule.
Remove the capsule.
This gives you the placement for the small rectangle. Tape the two short sides of the rectangle to the machine.
Insert the end of the "T" into the slit of the machine.
Turn over the machine and pull the tab til it stops.
Lay the capsule on the tab so that a little of the tab shows both above and below it.
Roll a few pieces of tape and use these to tape the capsule to the tab.
Push the tab back up and fit the capsule into the slot.
Pull the tab to bring out the capsule, open the capsule, close it, and push it back up to test everything works correctly.
The interactive invite is complete. I wrote the RSVP information on the back of the card since I forgot to put it in with the party info.
