How to Build a Removable Treadmill Desk

If you are working from home, but still want to exercise, here is the project for you. We made a Treadmill Desk! We wanted to be able to work while we work out, but we wanted to make sure that we are still able to use the garage as a workshop. That is why we made a removable desk for our treadmill.

The measurements will be different for everyone, but we wanted to make sure it fit the keyboard and mouse that we were going to use.

Assemble

We assembled the desk using glue and brad nails. We cut everything as we went to make sure it fit our treadmill. We also added felt pads inside the tubes that go over the arms to make sure they were a tight fit and didn’t scratch the treadmill.

Sand

We sanded everything was smooth and even. We paid extra attention to the corners and edges, rounding them over so that we wouldn’t hurt ourselves if we hit them while running.

Paint

We painted the whole thing with spray paint. We didn’t paint the part that actually touch the treadmill because we didn’t want to rub the paint off on the treadmill.

Play/Work

Once it was dry we slid it onto the treadmill and placed the keyboard and mouse on it. Sometimes we swap those for a Google Stadia video game controller.
