Wireless Power Transformation. Air Core Transformer Application. Wireless Charger.
This project deals with a wireless power transformation. The transformer used is air core transformer. There are two coils used in the circuit. When one coil is kept on top of another coil with air as the coupling media, there is a transformation of power between two coils.
The circuit uses an oscillator to generate high frequency waveform. The oscillator output is fed to a mosfet which finally drives one coil of the transformer. Another coil when brought near to this coil will result in a power transformation.
This method of power transformation is used in wireless chargers.

The Circuit uses IC555 as an oscillator. The oscillator is designed to oscillate at a frequency of 45Khz.The oscillator frequency can be increased further theoretically, but stability not verified with IC555. The oscillator output is fed to mosfet IRF840.
The drain of the mosfet is connected with a coil. The other terminal of the coil is connected to 12V DC rail. I am using two copper coil rolls which I purchased from shop directly. I didn't wind the transformer for this project.
The other coil is the transformer secondary. This coil is connected with a Schottky diode and a capacitor. The output circuit is connected with resistor and LED for an indication.
