Windsor Knot
Why should someone learn how to tie a Windsor knot? Learning how to tie a tie is important to nail those interviews and gives you a professional look. The Windsor tie is a tie that looks professional and clean, also it is one of the easiest tie knots to create.
Step 1
The tie consist of a wide end and a thin end, this is what we will use to name the areas of the tie to better help you with the following steps.
Place the tie behind your neck with the flat side of the tie facing outward. Place the wide side of the tie to your right side and the thin side on your left side.
Step 2
Place the thin end near your chest area and the wide end lower. (Length might need adjustment depending on the length of the tie)
Step 3
Cross the wide end over the thin end creating an X figure and pinch that area with your pointing finger on the top and the thumb on the bottom, remember to leave a gap from your neck to the X figure.
Step 4
Take the wide end and go under and up through the gap, ending up with the wide end on your right side and the thin end hanging down, maintain the pinch.
Step 5
Now take the wide end and go under and back over going into the gap and ending up with the wide end on your right side but this time with the inside of the tie facing up (At this point the pinch area or the X should be adjusted to look like a triangle)
Step 6
The final step – pinch the Triangle area with your left hand and take the wide end with your right hand and go over the pinched area (Triangle) and place the wide end towards your shoulder, now go under and into the gap going up. At this point the left hand should be holding the triangle shape and should have a gap on top, place the wide end into the game. At this point the time should be finished and will only need adjusting. Pull the wide end down and the triangle shape up and adjust to tighten.
