Watermelon Popsicle

Large watermelons are common in the summer time, but if we don't get to them fast enough they start going bad. Quick solution? Blend them up. Watermelon juice can be drunk straight, added in a smoothie, or made into some yummy popsicles. This treat will be sure to cool you down on any hot day in your future.

Enjoy!

  • Ice mold or popsicle mold
  • Spoon

Scoop the Watermon

The first thing to do is to cut the watermelon and scoop it out. You may want to do this a few times, each time putting the melon into the blender. The amount you take out depends on how many popsicles you want. A quarter melon should be plenty for 6 reasonably sized popsicles. If you don't have enough juice scoop some more melon.

Blend

With the watermelon in the blender, blend it for a few seconds until it is liquid. The fruit contains plenty of water to make the juice a smooth liquid on its own.

Pour

Pour the juice into your popsicle molds or container. I used a guitar ice mold and it worked perfectly! Then add the stick.

Add Extras *Optional*

If you wish you can add extra treats into your popsicle. For example I added a few chocolate chips into one of mine and some plain watermelon chunks into another. If you are thinking about making this treat a few times you might want to experiment a little until you find your favorite combination.

Freeze

Once your molds are filled and ready to go, put them in the freezer for at least a few hours. I left mine in over night just to make sure they were well frozen.

Remove

Once the popsicles are frozen, remove them from the mold and enjoy!
