Wall Painting of a Tree

This cute little tree has been a project of mine for a few months. I know it doesn’t look perfect, but that was kind of what I was going for. This is the step by step process of how I did it!

Planning/Tracing It Out

To start off, planning it out on a piece of paper is the safest way to avoid to many pencil markings on you wall. Try planning it out on paper a couple times before you do it on the wall.

After that, find the spot of wall you want to paint on and start tracing your tree on there. Do it very lightly, so that if you make a mistake, you can erase, and there won’t be a mark left over.

Paint It Black

This step is pretty self explanatory. Once you are confident with your tracing on the wall, then you can start putting black on the trunk/bark areas of the tree. You can also do a different colour, of course, but I find the black makes the leaves pop.

You will likely have to go over the black a couple times, so that the paint lines don’t show. If you want the trunk to be really precise, you can also use painters tape on the wall so that it is in a straight line.

This part can take a while, and, of course, feel free to take your take your time with the whole thing.

Anyways, next, your going to want to paint the leaves. It’s important to be very patient with this, because you need to be precise with this step. Choose your colours wisely, and use a paint that is not to liquid, because you don’t want it to run, and it also looks better. Once you are done with the leaves, I would suggest doing another coat of black, in case you went over it with the paint for the leaves.

So, just continue doing this on all five branches, and then you are set! Feel free to add more branches, leaves, or customize it however you like. I plan to add birds and maybe some leaves that are falling, because my tree is an autumn tree. So, have fun with it!
