Layout of Book
Open book in the middle, so that each side is even with the other.
Holding pages together, spread craft/wood glue on edges, and then hold away from back cover, for next part of step.
Spread glue on inner cover of book, then stick back page down.
Bend pages slightly, so a slight overlap is seen on the edge, where glue was applied. Use a paintbrush or fingers to spread glue along entire length of page edges.
Repeat for other half of book.
Curling and Clamping Pages
Using some glue, to hold shape, curl the corners of three to four (3-4) pages, as shown in pictures 1-3.
Repeat for as many corners as you wish. I curled three (3) corners.
You can use the kebab sticks to help retain the curls, while glue is drying.
Use pegs/clamps to keep pages in place while drying. Allow to dry for 6-12 hours, or overnight.
Painting Pages
Remove clamps.
Paint pages entirely with white craft paint.
When the white paint is dry, paint the edges of the pages with gold metallic craft paint.
Preparing and Pasting Pictures/Text
Cut picture(s) and/or text or scripture to fit pages of book.
Roughly cut around the the picture or text, then carefully burn the edges to your desired effect and size.
Paint Modge Podge onto the back of the picture and text and position it in the book.
Smooth over to remove any air bubbles.
Paint over the picture and text with Modge Podge to seal. Allow the first coat to dry, before adding your second coat.
Back Cover Application and End Product
Lay your chosen backing material right side down, and spread glue over it. Ensure edges of material are uniformly covered with glue, so as to be sure it sticks to the edges of the book cover.
Lay the book onto the material, ensuring the edges are properly aligned.
Lift book and smooth the cover material, to ensure no air bubbles remain.
Allow to dry overnight.
The book can be gifted or used as an ornament in your home or studio. Pictures of loved ones, and quotes can also be used.
