Acrylic paint (yellow, pink, purple, black, blue, grey, green and white)

Wash and Paint Lightbulbs

Using pictures from the movie, find the colors for the base of each lightbulb. To paint the lightbulb I took empty seltzer boxes and cut a small X into them, far enough apart to put the lightbulb in upside down. Then paint a thin coat of the color onto each bulb. Allow to dry at least one hour. Then apply second coat, repeating as necessary.

Allow to dry fully, ensuring full coverage.

For Poppy: Bright Pink base, darker pink nose, black for mouth and eyebrows and white teeth.

For Smidge: Bright Yellow base, bright pink nose, teal tulle

For Branch: Greyish Green base, black tulle, purple nose, black eyebrows

For Creek: Pinkish Purple base, orange nose, Dark Purple Eyebrows, Dark blue and teal tulle

For Bridget: Blue grey base, pink cheeks, yellow and red for eyes, white for teeth

For Biggie: Blue base, purple nose, dark blue eyebrows, light blue tulle, white teeth, black mouth.

Paint Faces of Each Troll

To start, paint a circle in the center of the part where the light bulb curves upward. Then add a small circle on each side of the light bulb to finish the nose. Paint two white circles to create the eyes. Add the pupil in black and a line for the mouth. Each troll has a slightly different mouth. Bridget gets some snaggle teeth, and her eyes are yellow and red with pink cheeks. Then add more fullness for the mouth and eyebrows depending on the faces.

Create the Tulle Wigs

The wigs are different for the main trolls and Bridget. For Bridget, wrap the stem of light bulb in the pink tulle. Then Cut lengths of tulle across the front and hot glue, leaving a slight puff in front. Create two pigtails, tying off with short lengths of tulle. Cover in ribbon of your choice.

For the main set of trolls: Cut approx 25-30 2"x 7" lengths of tulle. Cut a 6" piece of thin ribbon. Fold each piece in half and create a slipknot around the ribbon, repeating until you have created a length long enough to wrap around the lightbulb. The process is similar to making a simple tutu.

When you have a full circle of tulle, tie the ribbon around the lightbulb and flip it down over the face, then put a line of hot glue around the edge. Then flip the tulle upwards to create a troll wig! Cut a thin piece of tulle and tie off the top of the wig to create the troll hair. You can either attach a christmas hook to the tulle to hold it up, or you can hang it by hot gluing twine or ribbon around the screw of the lightbulb.
