Ultra-light Insulated Backpacking Mug for 20 CENTS!
This sturdy mug will keep your beverages cool or hot without the hassle of carrying around a 2 pound cup. Now, you can carry around a one-ounce mug for a backpacking trip, or a trip to a coffee shop so you can drink in style.
Supplies
You will need:
packaging foam
Duct tape,
1 12 oz soda can,
1 25 oz soda can
Tools:
Razor blade,
Scissors
Cut the Top Off of Your Cans.
Put tape around the shoulder of the can. Take your razor blade, and cut right below the lip of the can. Now cut counterclockwise with your scissors until you hit the tape. You should be left with a clean edge. Take the tape off.
Wash Your Cans Out
It is pretty self explanatory.
Repeat
Repeat steps two and three on the 25 oz can, except cut the 25 oz can a half inch taller than the 12 oz can.
Insulation (part One)
Take one square foot of the foam, and fold it into thirds. Then fold it into thirds the other way to create a nine layer thick square of foam. Take the 25 oz can, and press, and twist it into the square of foam. If that doesn't work, you can just cut it out with scissors. Put them into the 25 oz so that they are flat on the base of the can. You might need to poke them in with a pencil or wood skewer.
Insulation (part Two)
Roll the 12 oz can in one and a half feet of foam, and tape it to prevent it from unrolling. Stuff it in the 25 oz can, and trim off any excess foam.
Finishing
Tape the edges of the cup, and enjoy your new cup!!!
