Footwear
1. Water resistant boots
When I was wearing these boots the last time I was hiking my foot got stuck in a stream and it was in there for a good 30 seconds and my feet didn't get wet. Usually I go hiking in my running shoes and they offer almost no protection from the water and my feet would be soaked by the end of the hike, but these boots definitely made the difference.
Light
1. Flashlight
The flashlight has a carrying case that allows me to hook it on my belt and have light without having to hold the flashlight all the time, which frees up my hands.
Comfort
1. Harmonica w/ case
I also will usually take my dog, it is always nice to just sit with your dog after a long hike.
Random
1. Rope
2. Morse Code Cheat Sheet
3. Money Belt
4. Paracord
5. Playing Cards
6.Wire Saw
7. Boonie Hat
8. Collapsible Stove w/ 24 fuel tabs
9. $$ Money $$
Extra rope is always good to have, and trying to carry your money when hiking is terrible so the money belt will come in handy. If you don't understand morse code then it is probably a good idea to just have a cheat sheet with you. The wire saw is easy to carry and is a lot better than having a saw on your pocket knife. The hat goes without saying and the cards are to occupy your head so you don't go crazy when you are in a survival situation. And the money is if you are hungry and wanna get some food and need to call help after you escape a survival situation.
