Two Step Fruit Smoothie

On a hot summer day, the best treat is a cold one. After eating the rest of the frozen pops in the freezer, everyone needs a healthy, cold treat. Smoothies are a great solution, but can take a long time. This smoothie, though, is made out of ingredients that should be in everyone's kitchen. With a simple two steps, this smoothie is done in a mere ten minutes!

Supplies

Although I used specific fruit (strawberries and wild blueberries), this smoothie tastes good with whatever fruit is desired. However, the bananas, yogurt, and juice are the core ingredients. Without these, the smoothie will have the wrong consistency. The frozen bananas give the smoothie an ice-cream consistency. The yogurt and juice thin the smoothie out a little bit so it can be blended. The flavor of the yogurt and juice can be changed. These flavors complemented my fruit choices, though.

These are the core ingredients:

1. Four Frozen Bananas

2. 1/3 Cup Strawberry Yogurt

3. 1/3 Cup Cranberry Grape Juice

This is where you can be creative. Come up with different fruit combinations for the perfect smoothie. I used:

4. Ten Frozen Strawberries

5. One Cup Wild Blueberries

Tools Necessary:

1. Food Processor

2. Food Processor Blade (PLEASE BE CAREFUL BECAUSE THESE BLADES ARE VERY SHARP! HANDLE IT WITH CARE AND CAUTION!!)

3. Spatula

4. Glass Cup

Combine Ingredients

Gather all of your supplies, and set them up so that they are easy to get to.

Place all of the ingredients except for the juice into the food processor. Put the cap on and begin pulsing the ingredients. Pulse the ingredients until everything is beginning to combine. That should be about forty-five seconds. After about forty-five seconds, turn off the food processor and add in a splash of juice (about three tablespoons). Turn the food processor back on and, if necessary, turn it off after another forty-five seconds and add in another splash of juice (about three tablespoons). Let the mixture pulse until the ingredients are evenly incorporated. You can use the spatula to check if there are any chunks of fruit left in the mixture.

This is my favorite part of every recipe. Serve out the smoothie and enjoy.

Even after you have had your snack, there is plenty left for later or to share. The left over smoothie can be stored in an air-tight container in the freezer. It will taste very much like a frozen yogurt when it is taken out of the freezer.

Enjoy your smoothie and share your fruit combinations with me. I would love to hear your ideas!!
