Tribal Mask Made From Air Dry Clay
This is a very interesting and creepy fun-filled tribal mask !!
We will get to learn how to make a creepy tribal mask made from air dry clay XD!!
So get - set - go...
Supplies
- Air Dry ( I used Mont Carte air dry clay as shown in the image)
- Acrylic Paints ( These give extra binding to the material and is also very attractive)
- Some clay modelling tools like shown in the image or kitchen knives can also be used.
Ideating the Design
- Sketch the design of your mask on a drawing sheet to get a clear picture in our mind on how to build it.
Clay Unboxing and Giving It a Shape
- Unbox your clay.
- Make a ball of it and flatten it in an oval shape with any cylindrical object.
- Make a paper lump as shown in the figure so that we put our flattened clay on the to give it a three dimensional shape same as that of our face.
- Flatten your clay on it .
Giving Basic Structure of Face
- Now just roughly draw the eyes ,nose and mouth with your scoring tool.
- Cut out the eyes so that you can peep through it when you wear it.
- Make a rectangular nose and a flat wide rectangle for eyebrows.
- Also make two rectangular strips to sculpt the strips applied by our tribal man on either side of the face.
- Press these pieces firmly and gently at the accurate places and voila! our face is done!!
Giving Finer Details
Now that our basic face is ready let's go to make it more tribal looking!!
- Grab a sandpaper and giving finishing touches to the edges of the face, nose, inside eyes and eyebrows.
- Using your scoring tool make zig-zag line on the forehead and straight line on other part of the face as shown in the image to give it a tribal look.
- Woah! You made it . Now give it some alone time of about a day to dry and get ready to paint.
Color It !!
Remove the mask from the paper lump carefully so that you don't break it.
- Take out your acrylic colors.
- Color the face the way your creativity goes or follow what I did.
Colors that I used:
- Color the face in a dual tone of brown and crimson. Apply brown at the bottom of the face and crimson from middle part till the forehead.
- Color eyebrows yellow and blue at the top.
- And also the strips at either side of the face.
Damnn it looks so nicee !!
Time to Flex It !!
Photoshoot you mask and flex it on your face XD!!
