Tizen for Raspberry Pi 2
Today, I am going to show you how to use Tizen operating system for Raspberry Pi 2. Tíz (tizenegy = 11, tizenkettö = 12, e.t.c.) means number ten (10) in Hungarian language. Generally, nowadays, we can see Samsung televisions are running Tizen OS. (Operating System) Not only televisions, but also smart wrist watches, Tizen is widely used even though Android OS is well-known. On this Instructable, let's take a look, what Tizen can do for Raspberry Pi 2 :)
The need list:
1. Your computer with internet connection
2. Raspberry Pi 2 Model B v1.1
2.1. Wireless mouse and keyboard with usb dongle
2.2. Power adapter with micro usb pinned (2.1A 5V for Raspberry Pi board)
2.3. Wi-Fi USB Wireless Adapter (To connect internet over the air)
2.4. Laudspeaker with 2.5" audio jack
2.5. HDMI monitor/display/television's screen (If you use TV, no need laudspeaker, maybe)
2.6. HDMI-HDMI cable
3. 32GB Class 10 micro SD card
4. Micro SD card reader
Download Tizen
On your computer is connected to internet, go to your browser and surf to this address:
https://files.s-osg.org/tizen-on-rpi2/
On that page, I want you to select this file to download:
tizen-common-core-image-crosswalk-dev-raspberrypi2.rpi-sdimg-2015-08-14 14-Aug-2015 10:25 1.4G
This file is published on the date of 14 August 2015. It is 1.4GB. You can see other files also, I used this. Others are for experimental process.
If your default browser is slow for 1.4GB file, you can use Internet Download Manager program to download fast.
After the download is completed, download Win32 Disk Imager program to your computer. Setup this program. Run it. Choose Tizen setup file which is 1.4GB and choose your SD Card reader's SD card and click on Write to load setup files to micro SD Card. (Check the picture)
After the loading procedure is done, eject your sd card from your computer, then follow next step.
Get Ready Your Raspberry Pi Board
1. Open your HDMI monitor
2. Plug in HDMI-HDMI cable to your monitor and Raspberry Pi 2 board
3. Plug in mouse and keyboard's usb wireless adapter to Raspberry Pi 2 board
4. Plug in Wi-Fi usb wireless adapter to Raspberry Pi 2 board
5. Insert the SD Card which we did load Tizen into it.
6. Insert laudspeaker to Raspberry Pi 2 board.
7. After these six things have done, plug in the power adapter to Raspberry Pi 2 board.
