The Ultimate Leftover Thanksgiving Sandwich
Turkey Day has come and gone but those leftovers are calling your name. If you are like me, you already had two plates of everything, and it’s time to change things up a little. Enter the ultimate leftover thanksgiving sandwich. This sandwich reigns supreme over previous years that consisted of dry turkey and crusty stuffing sandwiches. We have sacrificed enough! Those years are gone and we have come to learn how to make the perfectly moist and delicious sandwich. Hungry yet? Ok, let’s get started.
First, we take a look at the ingredients, most of which you’ll see on Thanksgiving, with the exception of mayonnaise. Because, really, turkey sandwich isn’t a turkey sandwich without mayonnaise.
Now, on to the assembly.
First toast the bread. I like plain white bread because it allows the flavors inside to stand out more.
Next, to the turkey. Heat up a little chicken stock and butter in a pan.
Then add your turkey and heat it through for a minute or so. The outcome is moist, delicious turkey meat.
Now we wouldn’t want to put dry stuffing on the moist turkey, and that gravy is chanting “put me in, coach.” So add a little gravy in your stuffing and microwave for 30 seconds. No more crusty stuffing.
Almost done. Spread warm cranberry sauce on one side of the bread, Mayo on the other side.
Top with the turkey and the stuffing gravy mix.
Now you have the Ultimate Leftover Turkey Sandwich. YUM!
Tip: If you are a fan of Lefese, which is a norwegian potato tortilla looking deal, and can get your hands on some, roll up all the ingredients in a piece of Lefse. It is out of this world!
