We may not be right at Christmas, but everyone could use a little gingerbread, especially if it's homemade. Now I know that most people would be fine with your average gingerbread house, but you, not so much. You are an Engineer, I know it. And you don't want to just settle for an average gingerbread house. That's why I made this Instructable.

I loosely followed this recipe. Feel free to improvise when it comes to the amount of the different spices to put in. I know that I enjoy a variety of different flavors in my gingerbread.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and beat until it starts to solidify (not be crumbly).

Cut the dough into two separate ovals and store them IN THE FRIDGE. This can be in two bowls, or as I did, wrapping them in cling foam.

Roll Out

After at least 3 HOURS, take one of the parcels out, and divide it in half. Then put it in between two pieces of parchment or wax paper, and roll it out to the desired thickness. Remember that the dough can rise in the oven up to double.

Cut Out the Pieces Using the Template

Cut out the pieces using the template. You should not run out of the dough so don't worry about that.

Bake

IMG_3052.jpg

Bake at 350 Fahrenheit, for anywhere about 9-11 minutes.

Assemble

Assemble the gingerbread house with the frosting. If you would like, you can add a 1/2 teaspoon of cream of tarter to the frosting to ensure it will firm up. Take your time building the house, it might need some rest time to solidify.

Enjoy!
