Tatting comes from my desire to try something new and different. This project is an outcome of one such wish. Tatting steps are explained in details accompanied by pictures which will help you learn as your try it yourself.

Supplies

1. Tatting or Crochet thread

2. Needle

3. White beads

4. A pair of scissors

5. Glue

6. Earring hooks

Feed the Beads on the Thread

As a first step, I decided to feed 15+ beads (we will need only 12, 6 per earring) though. It is easier to work with the beads when they are inserted.

Then to begin the actual work, you have to take the thread once above and then below the needle as shown in images 2 and 3. Which makes one ds (Double stitch) as shown in image 4. Have 6 'ds' on the thread.

Make the First Petal

This is the basic step and the only other thing you need to know is the picot (p) which means to leave a space between the first time you pull the thread and the second one. The bead is pulled in place of the 'p' in this pattern (image 2). The continue to have 6 'ds'. 'p' and again add 6 'ds' (image When you are done, I pulled all the stitches and pulled the needle from the base loop as shown in image 7. Tied a knot and the first petal is ready.

Second Petal

Continued on the base of the first petal, I made 6 'ds', 'p', 6 'ds', 'p' and 6 'ds'.

Pattern is

6 ds - p - 6 ds - p - 6 ds

6 ds - p - 6 ds - p - 6 ds

6 ds - p - 6 ds - p - 6 ds

6 ds - p - 6 ds - p - 6 ds

6 ds - p - 6 ds - p - 6 ds

6 ds - p - 6 ds - p - 6 ds

When done with this one, I arrived at image 4 above.

Then along similar lines I made the second earring. Glued the thread ends.

Inserted the threads into the earring hooks and all set.
