THE GATE OF NOWHERE
A group of architecture students made this construction as part of a course in architecture at the University of Thessaly. The inspiration for the design of the structure came from the mythology of Eleusina, more specific from the Eleusinian mysteries and the myth of Persephone. The Mysteries are related to a myth concerning Demeter, the goddess of agriculture and fertility as recounted in one of the Homeric Hymns, according to the hymn, Demeter's daughter Persephone. One day took her to his underworld kingdom, Hades. That’s the main reason why they decided to design a passage from the world to the underworld. The construction declares an in-between side. It’s a wooden structure made of plain elements that create a passage meant to be a gate. The construction will be placed in an entrance of an exhibition park in Eleusina sity.
