THE CURTAIN ROD JIG

Our dining area has three windows on which Wifey wanted valances. Valances only. No curtains. But would anyone even read an Instructable called The Valance Jig? I guess only those thinking it was a new dance soon to be bigger than the twist.

Wifey is a bit OCD. So my safest bet was to get her to tell me exactly where on the windows she wanted them. Then I sent her away so I could work alone. You know the old saying: There ain't no sunshine when she's gone?Yeah? Well there ain't no borderline psychotic OCD outbursts while I'm working either.

I cut some scrap 1/4" thick strips a couple of inches wide. I super glued them at right angles with one piece sticking above the other.

How many other than myself are singing: The man who shot Liberty Valance? No one? Told you I was an old-timer. Gene Pitney will forgive us.

Moving on.....

I transferred the clip location to the higher part of the jig and drilled pilot holes. Now onward to this all making sense....

I marked the right and left sides of the jig and drilled pilot holes into the walls.

Using the jig on each window, I screwed in the clips, installed the rods and hung the valances. I called in Wifey and she was thrilled, and asked, "Do you think we need curtains?"

With a cat who has already demolished one set of blinds and loves to jump at flies that sneak into the house when we let the dogs in and out, curtains would last about two seconds.
