Super Simple Smokey Eye
Step by step process on how to create a simple smokey eye look.
Supplies
- 3 to 4 eyeshadow shades in gradient from lightest to darkest in one color scheme
- Blending tool (finger or blending brush)
- Application tool (finger, eyeshadow brush, concealer brush, etc.)
Begin with a blank canvas. Make sure your skin in the area you are applying shadow is clean, dry, and free of debris and oils. (Optional: you can apply eyeshadow primer at this stage if you would like.)
. Apply a “base” color all over your lid to provide a good foundation to build your shadows onto. This should be either your lightest color or next lightest in your shade range. This allows the shadows applied over the top of this layer to be more easily blended.
Apply a medium – dark shade over the last half of the lid. Make sure to follow the shape of your eye. Do not worry about blending this shadow yet, we will get there. I can't tell if this is to mean "medium/dark" or "medium to dark".
Apply your deepest shade on your outer corner. Focus the color along your crease and outer edge of your lid.
Begin blending your darkest shade and your medium shaded areas together. Avoid blending the inner corner at this stage.
Apply your lightest shade into your inner corner.
Blend, blend, blend. Work your brush in small circuler motions to blend your shades into an even gradient.
Blend even more. If you think you have blended enough, blend a little more. Keep working until you have a smooth even gradient from inner corner to outer edge of your lid.
(Optional) you can continue blending out your outer edge to create a more “smoky” look if you like. You can also leave the look as is if you prefer the cleaner edge.
Repeat the process on your other eye and finish with mascara and liner.
