Subway Decoration

This is a decoration proposal for a piece of Barcelona metro car for 2024, which will be 100 years old.

With the message of ‘100 years in your heart’ I want to convey the importance of this transport for many users, and the great help that has been in the mobility of the city’s population. The typeface chosen is Impact, a font designed by Geoffrey Lee in 1965, and commonly used for headings and titles. Its purpose is to keep the reader's attention. There is very little text in this artistic intervention, as it is merely informative for users. In the part of the symbol, for the shape of the heart, I used the grid of the block of houses of the Cerdà Plan (a very characteristic image of the city of Barcelona), and the symbol of the metro line. Below, a city skyline, with its most iconic buildings.

Four types of vinyl will be used: black, translucent black, red and translucent red.

I have prepared four SVG files in Inkscape. As the rolls of vinyl are 152 cm, 2 sets of each color / type can be prepared.

The drawing is designed to decorate one of the segments of the subway car between door and door. It can be applied to a couple of segments per wagon.

The measurements of the wagon fragment to be decorated are as follows and the intervention would be like in the pictures.
