String Art!!!
Have you ever wanted a cheap, fast, and fun art project? Look no farther than string art! This craft is very fun, can easily be made, and you can find most of the materials in your house! The project is easily customizable, because you can pick out your own color of yarn and your own design! I made a silhouette of a dog with a little bit of rainbow yarn, and a pink rocket!
Grab Your Materials
You will need;
-One or multiple types of yarn/string
-A hammer
-Tape
-A printed out pattern
-Piece of wood
-A screwdriver
-A lot of screws
Making the Outline
If you want to make a specific pattern, the outline is necessary. First, you will need to tape the pattern onto the center of the wood. Then, place the screw where you want it and give it a little kick start with the hammer. Next, screw the screws enough into the wood so they will not move, but make sure there is enough room to thread the yarn/string under. The screws should be close together, but not touching. Once you have completely made the outline of the pattern with screws, remove the pattern completely.
Weaving
This is the most satisfying step of the whole project, due to the fact that you can see your creation come together! You can really weave however you want, because this is how you want your project to look, although I highly recommend to weave the yarn in patterns. When you start to weave, make a slip knot around a screw where you are starting, and tighten the knot so the yarn will absolutely not fall off! When you are done, tie a granny knot and do not leave any slack in your weave, or everything will unravel, then cut any extra ends of the string that might be hanging off. And finally, have fun creating your string art!!!
