Was looking for something fun to make a while back and this is what I found. I search all my file locations and I am unable to find the plans for it. Not sure if there were plans or I made the demensions up after seeing a picture. So here is my Stickman Lamp and how I made it. I hope you enjoy it and have fun. :)

Please have a look at my project below. This is my second instructable and I am sure I have left something out or could have done something better. Please let me know what I can do to make this better for you. :) Thank You

First we have to get the paper templates printed. Print them at 100% on your printer, do not use fit to page.

Foot - Print 1 - Make 2 . Use one template to make both left & right feet. Make one foot then flip the template over to make the second foot. You can add Toes if you want.

Head - Print 1 - Make 1 Use the 2x6 to cut out the head. Shape and sand the head.

Hip - Print 1 - Make 1

Leg - Print 1 - Make 2

Shoulder Arm - Print 1 - Make 2

Stickman Body - Print 1 - Make 1

Stickman Forearm - Print 1 - Make 2

Cut from the 1' Dowel 3 - 1 1/2 inch pieces. Drill a 3/8" hole through each piece about 1/2" from one edge.

Take each template and mark them out on the boards. Just use whatever fits best. Do not forget to also mark out the hole locations.

Drill the 1/4" holes as marked.

Drill the 1" hole in 3 pieces that have them but do not drill all the way through, Only about 1/4" through.

Best to use a fosterer bit for this. You will be inserting the Dowel pieces we cut and drilled earlier.

DO NOT FASTEN THE DOWELS YET.

Each foot has to have a slotted opening in them. Make the slot about 1/2" deep and the proper size for each leg that you have.

The legs need some special attention when we attach them to the foot. The bottom of the legs have to be cut at a certain angle to help the stickman stand properly. 20 Degrees is a starting point.

When you put the 2 legs together with the hip joint, it should free stand. Put the pieces together to see how they fit before glueing into foot.

After cutting the head out we need to pay close attention on how we drill the holes. The botton hole is just a 1/4" hole that connects it to the body.

The hole in the top of the head is where we put in the threaded steel rod that came with the lamp kit or purchased separately, you have to make sure you drill the hole directly in the middle to allow wood on both side of the hole. 3/8 may be a standard size, but that will depend on the lamp kit you buy. Make sure to check first.

Putting It All Together

Sand and roundover all pieces.

Use the images to see where all the parts go. It should be quite straight forward.

The pieces with the holes for the dowels should all be on the same side.

When put together the arms and legs want to move and flop down. This is because there is no friction between the pieces. I made some Circular pieces of rough sandpaper to place between the parts and that worked for a while but not good enough. So I am trying to use some lock washers placed between the pieces, Using a single lock washer doesn't leave much thread protruding so it may be a little tight fit getting the wing nuts on. So you may have to use a longer bolt.

In one spot like the leg and arms that attach, you may have to use 2 lock washers.

If someone uses a different approach to the stickman to be more ridged, please let us know.

Once all together place the dowels in the holes with glue and align them so you can pass the lamp cord through.

Attach the shade and lamp holder and you are all done. Follow the instructions from the lamp kit you purchase to see how the wiring it done. Its just 2 wires so it should be quite simple.

That should do it. Send me pictures of your finish stickman and any changes that you may have made.
