Steel Mirror

Shatterproof Mirror

In this Instructable, I will show you how to convert a piece of steel sheet into a mirror.

Supplies

As you see in this picture, my steel sheet is not even stainless steel; if it is stainless steel, it will last much better.

Dry Sanding

I started by sanding with 100 grit and then used a nylon fiber wheel to clean the dark spots.

Wet Sanding

Then, I switched to wet sanding and went from 380 to 2000 grit. Remember to switch your hand movement pattern between horizontal and vertical every step you go further, and also, do not try the circular paterns.

Polishing

The last step is polishing; I added some of the soft polish paste I use for my car's paint and started the polisher. After this step, your errors from the sanding process will be visible to you; mine was far from perfect but acceptable.
