Standing Peg Board

A standing pegboard poses many opportunities. For example, I will use the project for attaching pieces of a marble run. Other uses could be for organization of tools or a poster display.

1. 2 pieces of 1.5" x 1.5" x 4' wood
2. 2 pieces of 1.5" x 1.5" x 21" wood
3. 4 2.25 inch screws
4. 10 1.25 inch screws
5. 1 2' x 4' x .25 pegboard
6. Drill, Countersink drill bit, slightly smaller than screw drill bit, driver bit (I used an impact drill for screwing and countersinking, and a regular drill for drilling.
7. Carpenters square
8. 2 30" x 6" x .75" wood for feet.

1. Place 4' long pieces parallel, and 21" pieces parallel in between said pieces aligned perpendicular to each end.
2. Clamp one long piece to the table to aid when arranging.
3. Use a square to ensure pieces are arranged in as great of a rectangle as possible.

1. Use a drill bit slightly smaller than selected screws
2. Drill through the 4' piece into the 21" piece on all corners of the rectangle. Attempt to keep wood as uniform to assembly as possible.

Use your countersink bit to drill into the pre drilled holes, enough for the top of the screw to lay flat into the wood.

1. Use drill to screw longer screw into pre drilled holes
2. Hold the pieces you are drilling together as in uniform to the rectangle as possible. If angles are changed, it will be more difficult to connect the frame to the board.

1. Ensure the peg board is aligned well on top of the rectangular frame.
2. Pre-drill with the smaller than screw bit, through the peg board into the frame.
3. I prefer to drill holes in between the peg board holes to ensure more holes can be utilized.
4. I drilled one hole 3 spaces in between holes from each long side edge, and one hole two spaces away from the short side edge, and one in the middle of each long piece
5. Countersink new holes to ensure a flat surface.

Drill into prepped holes with the 1" nails. While drilling, I clamp a non utilized area of the peg board to the table sandwiching it to the wood to prevent slippage of the peg board alignment.

We used a router to shape rounded feet, as this project is for children. If bumps are not a concern, uncurved wood planks can be utilized to make the peg board stand.

1. Stand up the peg board, and use the square to ensure it is 90^0 from the ground
2. Align the foot piece on the bottom of the board, and clamp it with the side of the board frame.
3. Drill through the foot into the frame, and countersink the holes.
4. Screw in the screws, and repeat for other side.

1. We are 3D printing pieces to attach to the board to carry a marble down it.
2. Additionally, we will be spray painting the board fun colors to take from the uniform wood.
