St. Valentine's Fondant

Hi everyone,

In this Instructuble I am going to share a project that hopefully many of you will find useful. When I was thinking what to prepare for this contest I thought of the time of the year: it is January, it is cold and grim outside (at least in the UK), but soon will be February, which means St Valentine's day. What I am going to share with you here is the quick version of the famous "chocolate fondant" recipe. Yes, exactly, the French dessert, which is a very good option if you want to surprise your partner on St Valentine's day. All you need are few ingredients and 5 minutes, no more!

Gather Your Ingredients

The ingredients I have used are:

  • Chocolate muffins
  • Chocolate balls
  • Icing sugar

As mentioned, the ingredients are as little as those. To make one portion you will need one chocolate muffin, one chocolate ball and some icing sugar for dusting.

I have bought a box of assorted Lindt chocolate balls, and in this project I am using one white ball, just because I love white chocolate in general, but you can use what type of chocolate you prefer.

Tip: when you search for muffins, make sure you do not buy the stuffed ones and go for the biggest ones, not the mini muffins.

Muffin's Hole

Using a tea spoon, make a circular cut in the middle top of the muffin and dig a hole in it about 2 cm deep. Do not throw away what you have extracted, you will need this "muffin lid" later.

Tip: be careful not to reach the bottom of the muffin: you need to create kind of a basket.

Unwrap the chocolate ball and put it in the hole you have created in the previous step. All of it has to be surrounded by the muffin itself, even the top, that you have covered using the "muffin lid" you set aside in the previous step. Do not use the entire stuffing you have extracted in step 1 to cover the chocolate, just the lid.

Make sure any part of the inside chocolate is not visible from the outside, and the top of the muffin is as compact as possible.

From outside the muffin should look like a normal muffin at this point, nobody knows that it contains a surprise!

Unwrap the Muffin

At this point you have almost reached the end of the project.

Carefully unwrap the muffin and place it upside-down on a microwave plate.

Heat the Muffin

Place the plate with the stuffed muffin in the center of your microwave and set the timer to 50 seconds.

Enjoy the "muffondant"

When 50 seconds have passed, extract the muffin from the microwave and dust some icing sugar on the top of the muffin before serving.

Enjoy it immediately and do not let the chocolate-heart escape too much!

You can prepare the "muffondants" in advance and heat them just before serving them.
