Sound Waves Demonstrator

WIN_20200204_13_18_30_Pro.jpg

We were asked to make a Sound Wave Demonstrator. There were some constraints such as it should be lightweight, made from recyclable materials and it should show the angles: 0, 90, 180, 270, 360 degrees.

Some definitions you may want to know:

Superposition Principle: When two or more waves overlap, the amplitude of the resulting wave is the sum of the amplitude of the individual waves.

Simple Wave: A Simple Wave is a wave with a single wavelength, a single amplitude, and a single frequency.

The wavelength, time and frequency of sine function can be calculated using the following formula: Wavelength = 2pi (m) Time = 1/Frequency Frequency=1/2pi

Now, here are the steps to make a Sound Wave Demonstrator.

The CAD Files

These are the pre-made parts we made.

Step One, Fabrication:

First, you need to use the lab machines to fabricate some parts. The machines we used are a 3D Printer and a CNC Machine. Here are the parts and their diameters:

The Arm

This picture shows the arm of the machine. You will need to use SOLIDWORKS to design this piece and a 3D Printer to make it.

The Fitting

Next up, after designing the arm you will need to start making the fitting. You will need to follow the dimensions as shown in the picture above.

Pen Holder Handle

And for the third part, you will need to make the pen holder handle.

After that, you will need to design the pen holder using SOLIDWORKS and 3D print it.

The Plate or the Base of the Machine

Next, you will need to design the base with the giving dimensions. For this piece, you will need to save the file in .DXF form then carve it using the CNC Machine.

The Rotary

Finally, you will need to design the rotary or the disk and 3D print it.

Testing and Results

this was our final prototype result which was successful :) .
