Snappy Bracelet
A cool way to make multi color bracelets without having a multi color 3D printer.
I designed these bracelets in Tinkercad which is easy to get the hang of and lot of fun! You can use Tinkercad to customize your bracelet with your name.
Supplies
PLA Accuracy +/- 0.03mm or greater. Any colors or brands.
Marker Optional
3D printer
Open the Tinkercad Project
If you don't want your name on your bracelet skip to step 4.
Follow this link to the Tinkercad project: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/b568ASB30ne
Next click the blue "Copy and Tinker" button. If you don't already have a Tinkercad account simply push "Sign up to copy" and follow the prompts to create an account.
Add Your Name
Find the name piece that has the same number of letters as your name and click on the letters. Write your name in the box that will appear near the top right. Use lowercase if you clicked on the braille.
Download Your Name Piece
Finally hold shift to select both the bracelet piece and your name. Push export in the top right, select include "Only the selected 2 shapes" and press ".STL" to download.
Download the Bracelet Pieces
Download pieces for your bracelet. You can choose the curvy or straight snaps or both. The exact number is a matter of preference but you can get an idea of how many you need by measuring the circumference of your wrist in inches and adding four to that number, i.e. if the length around your wrist is six inches then you will need ten pieces total including the clasps. If you made a name piece, it will take up about as much space as two or three snaps.
Download the clasps labeled even or odd depending on the number of links you need. If you’re unsure just print both pairs.
You will need to print three or four extras because sometimes 3D printers make errors that prevent them from snapping well.
3D print all of the pieces. Use .2mm layer hieght and 20% infill. All the other settings can be whatever you normally use. You can print your bracelet in many different colors by printing the snaps in batches and changing the filament color each time.
Suggestion: Print your name piece in a light color and draw over your name with a marker or sharpie to make it show up well.
Assemble
Snap the pieces together in a straight line by firmly pressing the cylinder pieces into the hole pieces as shown in the picture. If you printed a name piece put that in the middle.
Suggestion: If the pieces aren't fitting together well, lay a ruler on top of them and press down on that.
Add Clasps
Snap the clasps on both ends. I have an even number of pieces so I am using the even clasps.
Enjoy!
You're finished! Try on your bracelet!
