Cheap and Easy Ski Mounted Snow Scraper

I decided to make a brush/scraper combo that could be attached to the back of a ski right behind the binding. The idea behind it is that it would make it easier to get snow off the bottom of a ski boot using this than it would be to hit the snow off with a pole or binding. If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know in the comments section. This project took around 30 minutes to make. It shouldn't be too hard to make, even with limited experience in a field like this. I designed it so that anyone who skis would be able to build it. Some parts of it are easier with the help of another person, however, all of it can be done with one person. Good luck!

2 quarter inch self drilling screws ($0.10 each)

All materials can be purchased at a local hardware store or any hardware store. I got my plexi-glass from my local hardware stores scrap bin. This is cheaper and allows you to get whatever size/ thickness you want.

Using a hacksaw, or jigsaw, and a vice cut the brush to the desired length. You can cut it to whatever length you want, I chose to saw mine in half.

Using a hacksaw, or jigsaw, and a vice cut the plexi-glass so that it fits in the middle of the brush without sticking up to far above the bristles, or sticking off of either end of the brush, unless you want it to stick out, I won't tell you how to live your life. If you choose to use a jigsaw put duct tape over the area that you are cutting so that the plexi-glass doesn't split. This will later become your scraper.

Using a regular handsaw, and a vice, cut a groove in the brush thick enough to slide the plexi-glass into. After this is done line the groove with plastic cement and set/slide the scraper into it. The plastic cement will take around 15 minutes to dry.

Using a hacksaw carefully cut the pipe clamp in half so that it can be used to hold the brush and scraper to the ski. Once this is done mark out where you will attach the pipe clamps to the ski.

After screwing the scraper to the ski, use a pair of pliers and a pair of vice grips to bend the pipe clamp so that the brush/scraper can be slid on and off of the ski.
