Six Strand Flat Braid

The six strand flat braid is the scaled up version of the four strand flat braid, and it uses the exact same pattern as any larger amount of strands. If you can succeed with this, you're ready to braid anything!

Prepare Strands for Braiding

You will need at least six strands for this braid. I will be gathering all of mine with an overhand knot, but you can use whatever method best suits your project.

For the six strand flat braid, hold all six strands in your left hand. Grab the right strand, and weave it over the first, under the second, and over the third, continuing this pattern until you have gone through all the strands. Pinch the strand you just passed through with your left hand, dropping the tail down like the rest of the strands, and repeat the process until you have reached the desired length.

Conclusion

Once you have reached the desired length, you need to tie off the end to prevent it from becoming undone. I will be using an overhand similar to how I started my braid, but again, whatever works best for you.
