Simpleffective Camera Phone 'tripod'
This is an instructable for a simple and effective stand to use with a camera phone. It was made with scrap pieces of wood that were too small to be usable in other projects, so it is both green and cost-effective. The stand has four legs that can be adjusted to vary its height and angle. It also features a universal mount that will fit most camera phones. This project only requires the most basic tools, is very easy to build and is forgiving if you make some mistakes; it is a good beginners/learning project. You can also modify the dimensions to fit your own needs.

Required materials:
> small scrap pieces of wood
> 4 screws 1" long
> 1/4" bolt 2.5” long, washer and nut
> 2 elastic bands
> small piece of drawer liner
> multi-purpose glue

> 1/4" wrench
> scissors

Making the Four Legs
1) Using the saw, cut the scrap pieces of wood into four equally sized rectangles. My legs measure 94 x 24 x 6 mm.
2) Stack all four legs on top of each other and align the edges. Using the drill and 1/4" drill bit, drill a hole through all four legs close to one end of the legs. This will ensure that the hole is in roughly the same position for all four legs.

Making the Camera Phone Mount Part 1
1) The mount is composed of three pieces of wood, labeled A, B and C.
2) Using the saw cut the three pieces of wood to the dimensions shown in the picture.
3) Using the drill and 1/4" drill bit, drill a hole through the center of piece A.

Making the Camera Phone Mount Part 2
1) Screw together pieces C and B with two 1” screws as shown in the picture.

Making the Camera Phone Mount Part 3
1) The drawer liner provides traction and helps to keep your camera phone in place. It also lowers the chance of scratching your camera phone when in use.
2) Place the drawer liner over the mount and roughly trace out the size and shape.
3) Cut the piece of drawer liner to the traced size and shape. I cut mine a bit oversized to make sure all hard wooden surfaces are covered.
4) Glue your cut drawer liner to the mount with multi-purpose glue (I used Weldbond) and allow to dry.

Assembly
1) Put the 1/4" bolt through the drilled holes in the following order: leg, leg, mount, leg, leg.
Note: if the holes are too tight and you have difficulty putting the bolt through the pieces, try rotating the bolt clockwise while pushing the bolt in. This will cause the bolt to thread itself in and make it easier.
2) Once you get the bolt through all the pieces, place the washer and nut on the bolt and tighten it.
3) Put the two elastic bands onto the mount as shown in the picture.
Note: if the holes are too tight and you have difficulty putting the bolt through the pieces, try rotating the bolt clockwise while pushing the bolt in. This will cause the bolt to thread itself in and make it easier.

3) Put the two elastic bands onto the mount as shown in the picture.
