Simple High Quality Speaker

DSCN0001[1].JPG

I got a set of cheapo speakers and wondered if I could make them any better. I took them apart and took out the driver and wired it to a larger higher quality speaker. Then I built a case around it and now I have a nice looking and sounding speaker.

Finding the Driver

First I took apart my set of cheap speakers. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture beforehand but it is pretty simple. You unscrew the casing or pull it apart and then locate the driver (circuit board).

Then look to see where the speakers are attached. In my case the speakers were plugged in with simple ports but they may be soldered on in some cases.

Then cut the wires to the old speakers and solder or attach the new speaker somehow so it will work. Then test it!

A New Case

Then I built a case. I used a bracket to hold the front panel up and some self drilling screws to hold everything in place. That's all I did and now I have a wonderful stand-alone speaker.
