SMART CRADLE- a SMART SYSTEM TO SUPERVISE SLEEPING BABY

KNOW ABOUT IT
This project is inspired by Snoo Sleeper (a product that helps to fall asleep
quickly). This project takes that idea to a whole new level. The existing product in the market is just a comfortable bed with speakers which produce sleep-inducing sounds. On the other hand, this product is designed so that instead of inducing sleep to the baby, it helps to monitor the baby’s sleep and alert the parents when something wrong is detected in the sleep. Eight excellent sensors are positioned in the cradle such that the baby’s bed temperature and humidity are sent via email at regular intervals. Also, a moisture sensor alerts parents if there is a need to change the diaper. Most importantly, the microphone is constantly checking for the baby’s cry and ultrasonic and motion sensor detects is baby is trying to get out of cradle or is awake. Overall, this project mainly focuses on reducing parent’s stress about their baby when they are not around while the baby is asleep.
UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM IT SOLVES
This project mainly focuses on solving the following problem statements:
• Parents are worried about their baby if they are away from the baby.
• As babies cannot communicate clearly, there may be some issues that parents might overlook or take time to understand like the child has peed and diaper needs to be changed. The baby is feeling warm or cold due to improper clothing/ blankets.
• Not changing a baby’s diaper can cause infection. Unfavorable temperature and humidity conditions can cause cold or other illnesses.
• The child crying while parents are away (solved by microphone).
• The baby may fall from the cradle if trying to get out on his/her own
