Rockin' Around the Cupcake Tree!!!
With Christmas time coming around I thought it would be fitting to make a sweet treat, that not only tastes amazing, but also looks it! This holiday treat was created by making homemade chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, decorated and shaped together to make a Christmas tree! If you have an interest in making, a fun party decoration, that's also a treat, I would suggest reading below!
Making the Batter!
Tools needed
mixer
Cupcake pan
Cupcake wrappers
Ingredients
Flour ¾ cup
Cocoa powder ½ cup
Teaspoon baking powder ¾ teaspoon
Baking soda ½ teaspoon
Salt ¼ tsp
Eggs 2
White sugar ½ cup
Brown sugar ½ cup
Veggie oil ⅓ cup
Vanilla 3 tsp
Buttermilk ½ cup
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 F
Next you are going to mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a medium size bowl.
Set aside dry ingredients and whisk eggs, brown and white sugar, oil, and vanilla together.
Now you are going to pour half of the wet ingredients into dry bowl, then at the same time half of the buttermilk. After that's mixed together, repeat the same process and add the rest of the wet ingredients and buttermilk.
You are now going to want to get a cupcake pan and insert cupcake wrappers in each slot. You are going to fill the wrappers ¾ way up.
Cook for 20 minutes!
Once done you are going to want to set aside the cupcakes at room temp for 30 minutes or in the fridge for 15-20 minutes.
Frosting!!!
Ingredients
Unsalted butter ½ cup
Cream cheese 8 oz
Powdered sugar 4 cups
Directions
First, combine softened butter and cream cheese together whisk on speed 4.
Once that is nicely combined your going to add salt and vanilla.
Now, gradually add the powdered sugar into the mixture while the frosting is mixing.
To finish it off put frosting in the fridge for 15 minutes.
Decorating!!!
The final step to the process, also the most exciting is decorating. In this step the Christmas tree will officially come together into beautiful delicousness!
Once the cupcakes have cooled you are going to arrange them into a Christmas tree shape. You will add one cupcake at the top for a star and one at the bottom for a stump.(As seen in the tree photo)
The next step is to separate the frosting into 2 sections one being larger and the other, and one being very small. The largest section will be green for the tree, the smaller one will be yellow for the star.
You are now going to frost the actual tree base with green frosting, the top cupcake (the star cupcake) with yellow frosting.
(This step is optional)For the final touch you are going to decorate the yellow cupcake with gold sprinkles, then the rest of the cupcake should be sprinkled with red and green sprinkles!
And You're DONE!
