Portable Laptop Stand

Hello

Lately I have been really needing a portable desk stand to clear up all of the wires that are strewn across my desk and i couldn't find anything on the market to suit my needs, so i designed this. It is mainly made of recycled cardboard from parcels that have been delivered to my house. Read and Make!

Supplies

You will need:

Cardboard

Hot Glue

Circular Punch

Cutting Mat

Cardboard Tube

Scissor

Cut Your Cardboard

Your first step should be to measure and cut the cardboard. Cut the base slightly larger than the base of the laptop and duplicate it. You will also need sides for the laptop stand, these should be thinner.

My measurements were:

Base piece x2: 31.5 x 22.5cm

Side slats x2: 31.5 x 3cm

Punch the Holes

Your next step is to punch holes in one of the base pieces. This will be the top of your laptop stand. The holes are designed to ventilate the bottom of the computer and stop it from overheating when the fan is on. I didn't have a circular punch so I used a apple corer and a lot of pressure to make the holes in the base piece.

Add the Side Slats

Now you need to add the side slats. Place a line of hot glue just inside the long edge of the other base piece, press the long slat on to the glue and repeat the other side.

Add the Top of the Laptop Stand

Next carefully place a line of glue to the top edge of both slats and press the holed base piece onto it, lining it up with the piece below.

Make the Back Sheet

Now take a sheet of cardboard for the back. My measurements were 32.5 x 22.5cm. Place your laptop base on its edge and place a line of hot glue along the both top edges stopping at the middle. Press the back sheet onto the glue, lining up the bottom edge with the bottom edge of the base.

Add the Headphone Holder

Now to add the headphone holder to the back sheet. I used cardboard tube to do this, snip sections all the way round the bottom and top of the tube. Start by folding down the snipped pieces and place a line of hot glue on the folded area. Place a circular piece of cardboard on the glue and allow to dry. My circular cardboard had a diameter of 7cm.

Complete the Headphone Holder

Now turn the headphone holder onto it's base and fold down the snipped sections. Place a line of hot glue on the folded area and attach it to the back sheet near the top.

You have now completed an easy portable computer stand.
