Plunge Bralette Top
I had some extra fabric leftover from my scrapbooking days, so I decided to create a v-neck plunge bralette top. Super easy, super simple. Let me teach you.
Supplies
1/2 yard or more of fabric
Sewing machine
scissors
tape measure
pins
buttons/zipper/closure
The Base
Add 4 inches to your band size. Sketch two rectangles 6 inches wide and of that length.
Cut the rectangles out. Pin right sides together, and sew 3 sides closed using a straight stitch. Invert the fabric so that right sides face out.
The Triangles
Measure the distance from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the breast. Measure the width of a bra cup. add two inches onto each measurement.
Using those measurements, construct 4 rectangles. Sketch the shape (as seen in picture 3) on each rectangle. Cut them out.
Pin right sides together. Sew the top and sides closed, leaving the bottom edge open. Invert each triangle so that right sides face out.
Constructing
In each triangle, pin and sew a 1.5 inch dart.
Mark the middle of the base and place a triangle on either side. Pin and sew using a straight stitch.
Straps
Cut two long strips of fabric about 1.5 inches wide. Fold in half and pin, wrong sides facing out. Sew closed using a straight stitch. Invert the tube of fabric so that right sides face out.
Attach to the top.
Finishing Touches/The Final Look
Fasten the closure to the back of your new top using packaging directions. Hem any raw edges.
This top turned out great. I'm a sucker for a good basic, and this is definitely it! Solid 10/10
