Planter Out of Recycled Materials. Including the Plant

I am a student at Eagle Valley High School and I was instructed to make something out of recycled materials for my final in the class. I decided to make something that I go through a lot, egg cartons. So I made a planter.

What inspired me was my mom who almost perflect timing said we need to do something about all of these egg cartons we go through... So I made this.

When I created this I was just making it up as I go along, but I am very happy on how it turned out.

My plan was to just make it easily accessible and use succulents to make a remakeable planter, which is what I did.

If I were to do this again, I would find a better way to get it hung up, possibly use pvc pipe or something like that. If I had more time, I might use different types of succulent so I could call it a homeade science experiment.

It is actually incredibly easy to make.

What you need tools wise is scissors, and tape (optional).

What you need items wise, is cardboard (somewhat similar size to plastic egg carton), plastic egg carton (only the bottom half of the carton), string (optional), pieces of succulent, and soil.

The first step in order to create your Recycled Materials Planter is to cut your box to a size where you can easily reach into it to water your plants. You should cut it 2-4 inches above the size of the egg carton.

It is as simple as the step name. Fill your plastic egg carton with soil. After you complete this step, place the full carton in the cutdown box.

In each egg circle of soil put in a piece of the succulent. After this you should have a complete planter.

Using the string, scissors, and tape, Tape the corners with a line of string that goes across the entire width of the box with atleast the same amount of string used to bridge the gap of the width hanging off of each of the sides of the string taped on the corners. Repeat on the width side of the opposite side.

Next, Tie the top of the 2 hanging strings together above the planter (Width Sides). To reinforce the strength, I used scotch tape to wrap around the knots on the string.

Next, Put a bow on it. Tie the taped/knot of the 2 width sides together, I made it a bow.

Quick disclaimer, this may fall off of a hanger, even if you do it perfectly. It is more of a handle for it.
