Pi Station Gaming Console With 3D Printed Tiny Play Station 5 Case

Hey everyone, I've put together a small retro gaming setup! I set up RetroPie on a Raspberry Pi 4 and crafted a custom 3D-printed case inspired by the design of the PlayStation 5. It's like a mini version of the PlayStation 5, though it can't handle modern games. Still, it's a pretty neat little retro gaming console.

The case have only four components. Below, you'll discover the STL files required.

Note: When I made on this project, I was a complete novice in 3D design. Therefore, this design may contain imperfections. Additionally, you'll need glue to assemble the parts.

The next thing to do is stick the right side panel. You can use any glue that works with plastic for this job.

Follow the instructions carefully when applying the glue to make sure it sticks well. Also, give it enough time to dry completely before moving on. This helps avoid any issues with the panel coming loose later on.

To set up RetroPie on your Raspberry Pi:

1. Insert the MicroSD card into your computer.

2. Download the RetroPie .img.gz image from the official website for your Raspberry Pi model.

3. Use Raspberry Pi Imager (recommended) or another program to write the RetroPie image to your MicroSD card.

4. Make sure to select the correct image for your Raspberry Pi model.

5. Once the writing process is complete, remove the MicroSD card from your computer and insert it into your Raspberry Pi.

6. Turn on your Raspberry Pi and enjoy RetroPie gaming!

Now, we need to install the Raspberry Pi inside the case. It's a straightforward process; simply position it on its designated spot and securely fasten the screws.

Additionally, installing the HDMI cable is also simple. Just slide it through the back, connect it to the Raspberry Pi, and secure it in place. You may opt to use some hot glue to ensure it remains firmly attached.

I have prepared a compact custom PCB board to enhance the appearance of this project, providing a tidy and organized layout. It is designed to extend both the power and headphone ports.

The installation process is straightforward: simply slide the board into place and secure it with a screw.

Once installed, you can easily make the necessary connections following the instructions provided in the pictures.

With this our project is almost complete.

Now we have to glue the bottom part; I'm using the same glue that I used to secure the right-side panel.

With the left side panel attached, the project is now complete.

To complement this tiny gaming console, I've also constructed a small monitor using a 5-inch Raspberry Pi display. It was just a fun project, but you can connect it to any monitor or display you prefer.

Now, you can enjoy playing a wide range of retro games on it, including Nintendo, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Gear, and many others.
