Photo Transfer Box

Transferring photos to digital can be time-consuming, expensive, and frustrating. My Photo Box takes the expansive out of the experience and reduces the time significantly. Building the Photo transfer Box is so easy a ten-year-old can do it. I recommend your children get involved. Think how much they could learn about your family history.  

Find a Suitable Box

Find a cardboard box, For the standard photos, 6 x 4 Use a box 7 to 12 inches wide.

Open Lay It Flat

Open it up and lay it flat.

Cut Hole for Cell Phone Lens

Find the center of the first side and cut a hole for your cell phone lens.

Cut Hole for Photo Tray

Move to the next side. Cut a hole for the Photo tray. My photos are 6 x4 so my hole will be 1 x 9 inches. Be sure to cut both end flaps so when the box is folded they will not cove the photo tray hole.

Cut Hole for Light

Cut a hole in the end flap for your flash light.

Cover With Copy Paper

Cover the bottom with a dark color. Cover the rest on the inside of the box white

Turn the box over. Build support for your cell phone.

Cut Cardboard for Photo Tray

Photo tray: Cut a piece of cardboard as deep as your box plus one inch for the handle and as wide as the hole for the photo tray on the bottom of your box. Cut four pieces of cardboard one inch wide and as long as your photo tray for the handle.

Cover Paper Tray

Glue the handle. Glue a dark piece of paper to the bottom of the try. Cut a second piece of cardboard the same size as the tray. Cut a hole in the center as large as the photos you will be scanning. Cover with dark paper. (I cover my handle with red duck tape just to make it look cool)

Put Box Back Together

Now tape the box back together, leave the short flips on the outside. Your tray should slide easily into the box.

Slide in Cell Phone and Light
