Peugeot Lautaret '89 - Restoration
As a cycling lover, I have restored some bikes over the years for my personal collection. This one was bought in used condition back in the university years and was used as a commuter. One day, I saw it in my basement, having a thick coating of dust on it, so i felt a bit sad and decided to give it a new life.
Supplies
New handlebar tape, saddle, bottle cage. Peugeot vinyl stickers from E-bay. Cheap metal polishing cream.
Project Planning
After aquisition, i had to make a full plan in order to get supplies and organize my spare time in order to finish the project.
Wet Sanding
Bike had to be disassembled in order to be wet sanded. The old color was missing lacquer and the frame had some deep scratches, too. The proccess was was finished by hand. Please note that the frame material was mangalloy, not steel.
Paintjob
The bike was painted with car color and lacquer. First step was a coating of primer and after that paint and lacquer were applied with proper time gaps between each coating. The color is the Mini Cooper green (British racing green).
Assembly and Sticker Application
The bike had to be assembled with old parts that were ok and new ones that match the new paintjob's character. The stickers are from a Peugeot Sport road bike and were chosen because of their colors, in order to match the new green color.
