Personalised Scrabble Board Clock
This clock is perfect for any Scrabble fans! You can personalise it with anything you like, but the first time I made a clock like this was for my father and his partner. They love Scrabble! You could also use this technique to make a clock out of any other board game you like! I used a deluxe Scrabble board that was past its best.
I also used a clock mechanism, a Stanley knife, a drill and some glue. That's it!
Prepare Your Board
To prepare my board, I had to remove the turntable from the back of my board using a Stanley knife. My board was made of fibreboard so I did not need to stiffen it further - if you have a thinner board that has a fold, you may need to strengthen it with fibreboard at this stage.
Drill a Hole for the Clock
Next, I needed to drill a hole for the clock mechanism. I chose to put mine in the centre (which was easy as the star was in the centre of the board). For other boards you may need to measure the centre first - or you could choose a different position for your clock!
Your choice of drill bit will depend upon the size of the clock mechanism. If you buy one, it will tell you the diameter of the spindle. If it doesn't, or you are using a reclaimed mechanism, you can measure it.
Fit the Clock Mechanism
Next, I fitted the clock mechanism into the board. Because the spindle was a little longer than I required, I used washers at the back as spacers.
Ading the Names
Finally, I added names of the bride and groom using Scrabble tiles and hot glue. You could spell out any words any where on the board, as long as there is enough clearance for the clock hands to pass over them.
It's that easy to make! But it looks great and Scrabble fans love it. I hope you do too!
