Paperclip Faces

Out of a simple metal paperclip, this abstract art piece can be used as a bookmark, earnings, and a key chain. The piece can be made in as little as 5 minuets.

-paperclip

-jewelry pliers (optional)

-scissors (if needed for larger paperclips)

Use the pliers or your hands to straighten the paperclip as much as possible.

Making as circle by bending the wire around the pliers or even a pencil(depending on the size of the clip) will serve as the first eye of the face. By pinching the circle, you can make the eye more narrow.

By bending the wire down, then back up will make a dull point to serve as the chin.

Pick a point across from the first eye to begin the second one. Bend the wire in towards the first eye, then out. This crevice in the wire will become the second eye. Another way of forming the other eye is to make another loop, however a crevice works better for an average sized paperclip.

From the edge of the second eye use the wire to bend a dome over the eyes. This will be the forehead.

The remaining wire will be turned down between the eyes to make a mouth and nose. Before putting the wire into place, make a loop, oval, or even a triangle to serve as the mouth. After the shape is made bend the wire into place above the chin.

Once the mouth is in place, bend and shape the face to be as realistic or unrealistic as preferred.

The finished face can be used to make jewelry, key chains, and more. The metal piece can be used as a bookmark; using the nose to mark one side of a page, and the eyes to mark the other.
