Paleo Nut/Seed Pack
I thought this nut/seed basket is a great way to show how well people can use natural materials! I thought of doing this when I saw a squirrel holding a nut in its mouth that was attached to a leaf. I thought that was a never before seen event! So I decided to make an instructable for all the people who carry nuts and seeds in leaf packets (I might be the only one...).
Materials
You will need:
- 3 leafs with medium length stems, if you are going to eat out of the leafs then I recommend 3 leafs without any holes
- As many types of nuts as you want! I chose sunflower seeds, almonds, and cashews. Some other suggestions are: pistachios, baked pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, etc...
That's it!
De-stem Your Leaf
out of your three leaves, pick the smallest and de-stem it. This means to pull of the stem so that there is none left on the leaf. Note: Keep both parts! They are both necessary later in the instructions!!!
Poke Them Together
Now, take the other two leaves and poke one of the stems into the other about 2 centimeters away from the tip (not the stem), and pull through gently, or else it will break.
Next, Put the other stem in the same way at the tip of the first leaf (2 centimeters away about).
Pull both leaves at the same time VERY gently. Use your hands to slide leaves if necessary.
Folding
After you have done that, fold the bottom side of the tube-ish shaped leaves toward you (flatten the bottom and bend both sides of leaves toward you). Then, fold the sides of the bottom toward you. If there are any wrinkly/scrunched up parts in the side folds, fold that one the other way (away from you).
Last part: Pick up the stem you picked off one of the leaves in the beginning and poke it the all of the folds. Pull through.
Filling
With the nuts/seeds you have, fill the leaf package with an even mixture of them. Fill to a little below the brim.
Top
With the leaf head that you de-stemmed in the beginning, put it inside the leaf package. Don't sit it on top, but push it in a little so that it stays.
Finished!
I hope you enjoyed my instructable! If you liked it, please vote for it in the Paleo Recipes contest! It would really help if you did. Comments are also helpful too!
