PVC Garden Hose Hanger

Sometimes we just need something simple and don't have the time to go buy one or just don't want to shell out for it. I saw a PVC pipe clip hose hanger on-line and thought I could make one a lot cheaper using materials I already had.

MATERIALS

1" PVC pipe (at least a foot long)

3/4" Philips head wood screws

1" X 2" X 16" softwood (scrap)

2 pc 1-1/2" hex head screws (for mounting)

TOOLS

Ruler or tape measure

Pencil

Saw (band, crosscut, or hack)

Drill

Bits

Philips head screwdriver bit

Hex head drive bit

Protractor (helpful but not necessary)

Mark off ten to twelve 1" sections on the PVC pipe. Using the marks as guides, cut 1" pieces from the pipe. Cut though the wall of one of the pieces and then make a second cut 75 to 80 degrees around from the first cut. Be careful if you are using a bandsaw as shown in the photo. Use the first cut piece as a guide as you mark the remaining pieces. Cut the remaining pieces.

Drill a 1/8" hole about 1/2" from one of the side cuts in all of the PVC pieces. Starting 3-4" from the top of the wooden mounting piece, mark down the center about every 1-1/2" and drill a shallow (1/2") pilot hole at each mark. Start a screw, from the inside, in the hole in each of the PVC pieces and then attach them to the board, open side up, using the pilot holes as guides.

Drill a 1/8" hole near the top and the bottom of the board and mount it to a sturdy wooden support using the hex screws. Be sure to mount it high enough so the loops of hose are high enough so that the lawn mower won't hit them.
