PORTABLE GRILL
Hello! In this instructable I will explain how I made a small portable grill with material that I found in my house and I will take the step by step so that you can make one too.
The grill consists of two parts, the body or drawer, which is the main thing, and a grill, which is where we will cook. The grill works with charcoal, it measures 18 ”long, 12” wide and 4 ”thick and to do it I used only four different steel profiles that I found in my house left over from construction material and a few other pieces.
Now I will show you the step by step of how it was that I made the grill:
Supplies
use mainly four different steel profiles: 4 "x 2" lip-Channels, 1" angle, ½" rod and ¼ "wire rod, also use two 2 ½" x 2 ½ " hinges that you take out of an old door, two padlock holder and a stick of ¾ "
STEP 1: Cut the Pieces
The first step is to cut the necessary pieces to assemble our two parts, for the body we cut 2 pieces of 12 "and 2 more than 18" pieces to make the main structure, in addition to this we cut 8 more pieces of 11 13 / 16 " To all these we cut the sides leaving ½” excess.
We also cut 2 pieces from 17 11/16 ” of rod and 10 pieces from 11 13/16” angle to make the grill.
STEP 2: Put the Pieces Together
As a second step we join the two 12 "pieces with the 18" pieces to make a frame and we weld them so that they are fixed, we also join the 11 13/16 "pieces of 8 by 8 to make two plates and with these close the frame later, we also add some of the leftovers that we cut to complete the 18 ”.
STEP 3: Cut the Frame
We have to cut the frame in two parts to have one piece that is the cover and another the main part. I cut to 2 1⁄2 "
STEP 4: Close the Body
To close the body we place the plates that we made before in the bottom of the two
frames that we now have and weld them in place, with a few points is enough.
STEP 5: Put a Profile.
We put a flat bar to the piece that will be the lid to give it a better finish and that when closing the cut that we made before is not seen.
STEP 6: Make the Grill
At this point we join the angles with the two pieces of rod that we cut to make the grill. i put the angles on 45 degris and 1 1/2 "apart.
Put the Handle
To put the handle, we cut two pieces of ¾ ”x 2 ¼” from the leftovers that we cut from the lip-channels and we welded them to the front of the body, also from a stick of ¾ ”we cut a piece of 3 ½”, we made some holes to put screws and in this way fix the piece of wood, we round the pieces of lip-channels and that's it.
Put the Hinges
We put the hinges on the back of the grill and weld them to the two parts so that the grill opens and closes.
Rear Supports
With a 1 "piece of angle we cut four 1" pieces and one more 3 "piece, the four 1" pieces were placed on the back, and we put one in each corner, and the 3 "piece was placed also in the back to the middle of the length and leaving it below what is the lid.
Put Padlock Holder
So that the grill does not open when transporting them, we put two padlock holders in front and we weld one part above and the other below, so that we can close the lid.
Make the Legs
To make the legs we take two pieces of 30 ”wire and use a template to make the legs, we need 2, once folded we cut the excess.
Legs Supports
To join the legs to the spit, we make a couple of arches with the leftover flat bar, fold them and weld two at the bottom of the body, then put the legs in place and put the other two arches and weld them so that they remain instead.
Paint
To finish we paint the grill, after sanding it, masking it and leaving it ready, we paint it with high temperature paint, add the piece of wood for the handle and that's it.
