Outdoor Waterproof Boombox

Perhaps you have seen a DemerBox before and wondered how you could make your own. Or perhaps not. Either way here you will learn how to build one badass boombox that you can use all the way from a backyard barbeque to off-roading in an ATV

Materials List:

Pelican 1450 or Pelican V300 (cheaper but less waterproof) I bought a used pelican 1450 for cheaper, I recommend doing that.

Using your hole cutter, cute two 5.5 inch holes for the woofers to sit flush in. Also cut out the hole for the tweeter in this step.

First, lay each piece onto the back of the case to make sure everything fits properly.

When building these speakers, I like to use lock-nuts for everything. Sometimes the vibrations can make screws loose.

I didn't have any stand-offs so I just used 3 larger nuts to elevate the extension board off the surface. It needs to be elevated so that the cables can stay plugged in.

First trace around the battery capacity meter

Then using a rotary tool, remove all the plastic within the traced lines and press in the battery meter

It should be a tight fit

Cut a hole for the on/off button to sit flush in.

If you want the LED to shine, I put a picture of how to wire it up. Although the LED doesn't shine very bright so I didn't feel a need to use it.

Using a drill or hole cutter cut out the hole for the USB/Aux flush mount.

When I first bought this the cables were way too long on it. So I shortened them. I recommend doing the same.

Using this flush mount allows you to charge your phone without opening the case and play music with an aux cord instead of Bluetooth.

This step is optional. Only perform this step if you have experience soldering. I wanted this boombox to be able to work without ever having to open the case, so I soldered 2 wires directly to the internal on/off switch so I could add my own external button.

Also if you want, I bought a Micro-USB waterproof flush mount so that I could recharge the Bluetooth without opening the case. I installed it above the USB/Aux mount.

Using Weld-It waterproof adhesive, go around all the speakers, flush mounts, screw holes, and anything else that water could leak through and put this over it generously. This stuff is nice and flexible so it won't break with vibrations

Connect all wires securely. It should look similar to my picture, I recommend organizing your wires better than mine.

Use the whole left channel for both woofers so they get a full 50w each. And the whole right channel goes straight to the tweeter so it gets a full 100w.

To connect the boombox to your device:

Press the button, go to Settings on your phone, and open Bluetooth, press allow new connections if needed, scroll down to new devices, connect with “J205”, and wait for your phone to connect and play some music!

To charge the boombox (main battery):
Pop off the waterproof plug from the DC barrel, plug the charger into the wall, plug the charger into the boombox, both LED's will shine. Charge until only one of the LEDs is shining.

To charge the boombox (Bluetooth battery):
The Bluetooth power source is separate from the main battery. If you hear 2 beeps and music shuts off, either reset the connection to the BlueBox or follow the steps below.

Unscrew the cap from the micro-USB, plug the micro-USB into a USB power source, plug the micro-USB into the micro-USB port in the boombox, and charge overnight and unplug.

The BlueBox can also play music directly from an aux cord, without the need for Bluetooth.
