Outdoor Stool: Simple, Modern Wood Working Project for Our Deck!

How simple is this outdoor stool though? There are nine boards all together, four of them cut at 18″ (the legs), three of them cut at 16″ (the seat) and two 2x2s cut at 12″ (for support). Notice I spaced the legs out a little, giving more wood for the two outside boards to sit on them then the center board. (I figured with the way people sit, the outside boards would be under more stress then the center seat board.) Then I added the 2×2 in the crook between the seat and the legs on the inside – I cut it to be less then the full depth of the seat so it would hide a bit. I ran screws from both the legs into it and through the seat boards into the 2×2 as well.

Anyone could make this little outdoor stool and it is surprisingly comfortable and it also makes a great plant stand. Goodness sakes am I done with this deck yet?! Nope, not quite! Just a little ways to go before I can finally reveal it here on the blog, stay tuned for our deck rails and deck gates projects!
