Organizing Box
In my introduction I will explain to you my engineering design process while making this box. For the first step to the process I had to find a problem with my house. And one of the problems we had was that out pantry was a little disorganized so I was brainstorming some ideas and the solution I came up with was an organizing box. Next I had to do some research and find a box design that I liked and kind of give my self and idea of a design I wanted to do. So then I made a blueprint of my design on onshape. So then after I made my blueprint and I figured out my measurements and then got to work building my box. The steps for building my box are below.
Supplies
I used wood, a staple gun, table saw, and a miter saw.
Table Saw
For the first step I used a table saw and cut out a 12 inch wide piece of wood.
Measuring and Cutting
For my next step I used a tape measure and measured out 8 inches tall then used a miter saw to cut the wood.
11 Inch Walls
For my third step I had to make two 11 inch wide walls because the wood thickness is .471. So I cut off two 12 inch wide pieces of wood and then with the miter saw I cut an inch off of the wood pieces to make them 11 inches. I also made one of the walls 3 inches tall and made the other 11 inch wall 6 inches tall.
8 Inch Walls
For my fourth step I had to make two 8 inch wide walls that were 3 inches tall. So I cut out two 12 inch wide pieces of wood that were 3 inches tall and then just cut 4 inches off of them using the miter saw to make them 8 inches wide.
Stapling Pieces Together
Then for my final step I used the staple gun and stapled all the pieces together.
