One-Po-rridge
Good morning everybody!
I said good morning because after making this recipe you are going to have a really good morning and feel energized. Today I am going to show you how to make a very healthy, quick and easy raspberry porridge. Porridge is a common choice for breakfast, but the richiness of the raspberries and the extra flavour of the golden syrup and coconut will definitely boost your porridge.
My one-Po-rridge is vegan and dairy-free.You can make it gluten free too by using gluten free oats.
So, let's get started!
Grab Your Ingredients and Tools
To make this recipe you will need:
- 80 g oats
- 200 ml soya milk
- 80 g raspberries
- 1 tbsp soya yogurt
- 2 tbsp golden syrup
- 1 tbsp shredded coconut
- 1 tbsp chocolate flakes
- 1 tbsp granola
These ingredients are sufficient to make 2 portions.
I have used frozen rasperries, but fresh ones will do the job too.
I have chosen coconut, chocolate flakes and granola as toppings because I love how they fit together. You can use any toppings you like.
You will also need:
- 1 medium sized saucepan
- 2 bowls
- 1 measuring jug
- Porridge spurtle
- spoons
The spurtle is a wooden kitchen tool that resembles a stick, that Scottish people use for stirring porridge or other meals of a similar consistency. I guess not many of you have a porridge spurtle at home; you can substitute it with any wooden spoon you normally use in your kitchen.
Getting Started
First off, grab the measuring jug and pour the milk in there to measure out 200 ml.
Put the saucepan on the hob, but do not turned it on yet.
Add the entire quantity of oats and pour the milk all in one go. Now turn the heat on and cook the mix on a medium heat stirring with the spurtle or wooden spoon, not letting the flakes stick to the bottom of the saucepan.
This step will take 5 minutes.
Add the Raspberries
After 5 minutes add the rasperries to the mix leaving just a few out, to decor the porridge once ready.
Stir everything together and let it cook for other 10 minutes. Add the tablespoon of yogurt while cooking. Do not forget to stir your porridge, we do not want it to stick to the bottom of the pan.
Depending on the type of oats you use, the mix can get quite thick.Add a little bit of water or milk if it gets too thick.
Remove the Porridge From Hob
After a total of 15 minutes, you can remove the pan from the hob.
Grab the serving bowls and split the porridge between them.
Add the Toppings
Now it is the time of adding the toppings to each bowl.
Start by adding the golden syrup, then comes the shredded coconut, the chocolate flakes and granola.
Serve and Enjoy
Add few rasperries to finish off and serve immediately!
