Hi, my name is Gerhard. I'm from upper Austria.I have a self build CNC machine and wanted to try a relief from wood.

At the beginning was the search for a suitable 3d relief. I bought this file.

I bought a piece of beech wood needle from the carpenter.

Preparing the milling paths with Desk Proto. For the first pass I used an 8mm roughing cutter.

Settings in Desk Proto: load geometry

Settings for rough pass: Select Cutter, define toolpath

I used an excess height of 1.25mm.

Calculate toolpath and create an NC- program file.

Create the 2nd milling pass. For this purpose I used a 1,5mm ball end mill.

Settings for the 2nd pass.

Distance between toolpathes: 0,23mm

Distance along toolpath: 0,12mm

Calculate toolpath and create an NC- program file fort the 2nd pass.
