Old Coat Hooks Fishing Pole Organizer
In this project I used 2 sets of 3 old coat hooks to make a rack to hold our fishing poles. This project should take no more than 1 hour.
Supplies
- Push Broom
- Old Coat Hooks
- Fishing Poles
- Yard Stick
- Screwdriver (size will vary
- Screws (Size and quantity will vary based off of your coat hooks.)
- Stud Finder
- Pen
- Clorox Wipes
- Bubble Level
- Corner Level
- Fun Spirit (Optional but highly suggested
- Drill (Optional)
- Engineering Notebook (Optional)
- Ruler (Optional)
Step 1: Find a Stud for Each Screw
To start use a stud finder to locate a stud in the wall. After you do this mark the stud with a pen. This is important because if you screw straight into a wall and not into a stud, your project will fall off the wall. A stud will act as an anchor for the screw.
Step 2: Marking Out Your Drill Points.
After finding a stud, take a yard stick and bubble level. hold the yard stick up to the stud at the height you want your rack to be at. After this place a bubble level on top of the yard stick and make sure it's level. Then draw a line along the top of the yard stick. This will be the horizontal plane in which all your hooks will be mounted.
Step 3: Start Each Screw Hole.
Take a screw and a screwdriver or drill and drill the screw partly into each mounting hole. After that, back the screw out of the hole.
Step 4 - Mounting
Mount your hooks and make sure there level. There is nothing worse then completing this project only to find that all fishing poles fall off because the final product is not level.
Step 5: Level Just One More Time.
Just to be safe make sure everything is level just one more time.
Step 6: Clean
Take some clorox wipes and just wipe down everything to make it look nice. Also, use the push broom and sweep up any saw dust.
Step 7: Hang the Fishing Poles
Hang each pole, alternating which end you place the reel on to make sure you have even weight distribution.
